ReneVerse SDK: Now Live on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum

For the past year, we’ve had our heads buried in our work, building the tools necessary to engender a veritable renaissance of the digital gaming asset landscape. Finally, we’re pleased to announce the start of our journey on multiple fronts — Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Optimism & Arbitrum. All of them hit Mainnet today, and we hope you’ll join us.

“Games have so much freedom. You can go anywhere you want.” — Jenova Chen

If you don’t know Jenova, he’s a long-time game developer, director, and the founder of thatgamecompany, responsible for Journey, a uniquely emotional and creatively designed adventure that is hailed as one of the most evocative and beautiful games of 2012 with the single most awards ever won by an indie game — 118. Journey simultaneously pushed the boundaries of what a single game can achieve and reduced its concomitant parts’ overall complexity to achieve its creative goal, making it a veritable master class in game design.

What’s interesting about Journey relates to the concept of freedom Jenova spoke of. Despite the feeling of freedom Journey was able to evoke from its players, the game itself is fairly linear in its progression. Players in the game are able to discover a few new paths to progress the story in subsequent playthroughs, but all paths converge at the same, intentionally anticlimactic conclusion. To those who acclaim the game, it’s exactly this dynamic that is the game’s essence: it’s all about the journey, not the end.

Ultimately, a player’s journey through a game is enhanced through two effects: agency and immersion. The greater personalization and freedom of choice that is available to players, the greater their agency. The more vast game worlds are and the more rife they are in content variety, the greater the immersion.

At ReneVerse, we strongly believe that the bigger the journey, the better the game. To that end, we’ve made it our mission to build the infrastructure required for players, developers, and businesses to take their journey beyond the borders of a single game. Through blockchain technology, both Web2 and Web3-native users can bring their gaming assets along with them to any supporting game, regardless of their familiarity with blockchain.

For the past year and a half, we’ve painstakingly crafted an intricate, blockchain infrastructure solution to support an all-encompassing ecosystem of games and user-friendly products that bring real asset interoperability to gamers everywhere.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that ReneVerse is now live on Mainnet for Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Optimism, and Arbitrum.

For those of you who are new, ReneVerse is an end-to-end multichain infrastructure and gaming ecosystem, upheld by two key parts. The first is the ReneVerse Portal, where users can easily mint game assets on the blockchain of their choice and transfer them between one another. The second is the Unity SDK, ReneVerse’s development cornerstone that enables developers to integrate any assets minted through the Portal into their Unity-based games.

Making use of ReneVerse’s tools, even as a game developer, requires zero prior experience handling blockchain technology. As long as you have an email address, you are able to sign up with ReneVerse, access games, and begin participating in the virtual economy of borderless interoperable assets.

Minting Your First Borderless Assets on ReneVerse

At ReneVerse, we believe that users shouldn’t struggle to make sense of blockchain tools. Rather, blockchain should work for you. With the ReneVerse Portal, minting your first borderless asset is a simple 5-step process from start to finish. 1. Register for a Gamer/Developer Account

Head over to https://app.reneverse.io/register to sign up for your ReneVerse account. If you’re a developer, select “Game Developer” under User Type.

After OTP verification, return to https://app.reneverse.io/login and log in to your account.

2. Make an Organization

To create your first Organization, find the “Organizations” item within your User Profile Dropdown.

Click on New Organization, and add your credentials to create your first organization. Organizations can help you collaborate with other indie developers or developer organizations, for administrative purposes or the co-development of a joint game project.

3. Add Your Game to the Portal

Next, let’s create your game within the Portal, by selecting New Game.

Add the name of your game, a description, a cover image, and your blockchain network of choice, then click Create. Shortly, your game will be listed within your Organization’s Portal Dashboard.

4. Create a Collection & Create Your Asset Template

To create your first Asset, enter your game’s Portal page and select “New Collection.”

Once you’ve created your collection, you can select it to view the following items on-screen.

Here, you can create your first Asset Template by selecting “New Asset Template”.

Add the name of your Asset Template, a description, and a cover image. You may then adjust the supply of the asset, and select where you want to store it.

5. Assign Attributes & Mint!

Before minting your first asset, you’ll want to customize it. While viewing your asset template, select the Metadata tab and navigate to Attributes.

Here, you can define the variable characteristics of your asset template. The Portal offers a selection of various attributes that make it easy to customize the assets of your collection based on a variety of factors.

After adding your attributes, you will need to add Images in the Data section. Click on Data, upload images for your assets, and you’re set!

With that, you have everything needed to mint your first Borderless Asset, though we encourage you to explore further customization. Click on Mint Asset, select yourself as the Asset Recipient, and mint!

And that’s it! From first visiting the website to having your assets minted on the chain of your choice is just 5 easy steps.

From there, all that’s required is to then link ReneVerse credentials to Unity and complete your code from there! You can find a fantastic in-depth guide on how to make your first ReneVerse-powered game from start to finish here.

The Future of Gaming is Borderless!

With the launch of ReneVerse on mainnet, we’re incredibly excited to bring borderless gaming to players, developers, and businesses everywhere, and we’ve got huge plans to make it happen.

In the words of our founder — “Since we began building over a year ago, it has always been our mission to empower players, developers, and brands to bring their assets with them on their own unique gaming journeys.” The launch of ReneVerse on mainnet for multiple blockchains is simultaneously the culmination of endless trial and error and painstakingly implementing the feedback of our early adopters, as well as the start of much bigger journey to break down the borders between games. While we can never know our true destination, we’re certain that the journey we’re on will give gamers the freedom of choice and immersive experiences that they crave.

From the ReneVerse team: Thank you! We’re grateful to our community members, our talented early adopters, and all of our backers and partners who have joined us on this journey to bring borderless gaming to life.
